Rupees are the primary currency of Hyrule, City in the Sky, Isle of Frost, and the Dark World. Subrosia uses Ores, while the Twilight Realm uses Marks. Crescent Island and the Sacred Realm don't have national currencies.
Most significant items (weapons, steeds, shields, magical artificats) must be purchased in Shops or otherwise earned. Underneath the banner's right corner, you'll find a link reading "Shops" where you can quickly purchase various merchandise - more items will be added on request. These shops can be accessed instantly and from anywhere. There are also a few "local" shops where you're required to role-play exchanges; techs, rare items, services, and selling goods to NPCs are all exclusive to Local Shops.
Spending Rupees:- Shops
- Trading - You can trade, give, and barter with other players or NPCS.
- Etc - If you choose to lose rupees in some other fashion, say throwing them into a fountain, make a Donate offer to the member named CPN, and explain why (preferably giving a link to the transaction).
Earning Rupees:- Quests
- Dungeons
- Trading - You can trade, give, and barter with other players or NPCS.
- Gambling
- Thieving and Plundering
Trading
To trade items and rupees with another member, click "Shops" link under the banner, then Inventory, then Trade, and finally search for who you wish to trade with by username. After the username is selected and you clock Execute, the interface you'll run into should be self-explanatory. Due to a slight glitch, rupees must be involved in the trade (but you can just trade one rupee for one rupee).
When someone's offered you a trade, go into the same trade screen in order to accept or decline.
Quests
Quests are your basic ways of earning Rupees and Experience, though you can occasionally techs or items as well. Someone wants you to do something, they give you a quest, you do it, they pay you. Several NPCs will offer quests (though sometimes you'll have to ask, of course), but you can make your own in the Quests forum.
Sometimes you'll be able to find regular employment from an NPC, where you'll be able to find a steady supply of payment or quests.
Dungeons
Hidden in several areas across Hyrule, staircases and caverns lead down into mysterious underground depths; the remains of a former culture. These dark dungeons are renowned for housing rare treasures guarded by ferocious beasts (sometimes even Daltus or Gandrics).
Some quests can be done solo, but you're required to be in groups if you're planning to conquer a dungeon - well, you can do them solo, but you'll die. You can role-play dungeons anyway you like, provided the boss monster is defeated in some way or another. You won't know what the treasure is until you reach the last room, where CPN will disclose to you your prize(s) and XP rewards, then offer you a means to return to the surface (If you don't put much effort in getting to the final room, don't expect much). If CPN doesn't post in your dungeon within 24 hours of reaching the final room, notify it via a Private Message.
Even after a group clears out a dungeon, the demons will eventually repopulate and find a new and different treasure to keep... not immediately, mind you.
Gambling and Thieving
For either of these tasks, you'll need to find an NPC or a player-character. Gambling should be obvious enough. You can role-play steal attempts against anyone, but its up to the other character's controller if you get away with it, or not and the amount you'll receive (NPCs will probably be more forgiving than players). But if you've already killed or KO'd them, then they won't have much choice in the matter. |
